Coffee Stops: Pit Stop Cafe, Plymouth

Pit Stop cafe has existed in Plymouth for a number of years but to be honest, when it existed in the heart of Plymouth's commercial port I never visited it, probably out of snobbery. It was attached to a little workshop doing motorcycle repairs and whilst the MacPherson motorcycles name started popping on the radar there were other options nearby that fulfilled my needs for damn good coffee.

In 2025 they relocated to a much bigger and better location, taking over the space previously occupied by Plymouth's failed Triumph and Harley dealership they reworked the space into a motorcycle showroom, workshop and a new, expanded Pit Stop Cafe.

The offer is exactly what you'd expect, coffee from local roaster Surface Coffee, a homegrown menu that isn't ahead of itself, it sticks to the basics and does them well - exactly what hungry motorcycle riders expect. It's not too hipster (if such a thing exists) and on any given day you'll get everyone from L Plate riders to full cut wearing bikers catching up with old buddies.

The new space is a dream, room for live music and events but still cosy enough that you're going to walk in and bump into someone you know. They have been running a monthly bike night which has literally been packed out the door and of course there's a motorcycle showroom right next door with top names like MV Augusta, Royal Enfield, Aprilia and CF Moto while upstairs you might find yourself buying a Belstaff Jacket and a Norton. The team are local and they're right into bikes.

Coffee quality from Surface is consistently decent, the range of bakes is limited but tasty and the food portions are solid, they're running a tight ship. Currently it's only open Tues-Saturday so for Sunday riders best still head down the coast!

You can find them at Eagle Road in Langage, Plympton or online here!
