The same team as you'll find behind the keyboard here at GDM decided we'd take on the DGR ride, The Distinguished Gentleman's Ride, for Plymouth 2025. Not content with just finding a ride and joining in we had to have a go at organising our own, which turned out to be fortunate as due to the closure of our local Triumph motorcycle dealership there was no organiser in the city. We're not afraid to have a go at organising events and it's always fun when someone brings a different vibe to an already well rehearsed format.
It exceeded our expectations; the sun was out, everyone bought their best fits and motors for the day, it was a morning to remember for sure, Terra Nova Cafe in Devonport is a venue made for retro/vintage vibes where pictures of Captain Scott rub shoulders with posters from epic motorcycle adventures. It's a great looking building and nestled in the heart of Plymouth's historic Devonport district.
We had local rider Kim (@streettwinkim) lead the way in her Triumph Street Twin 900 while dressed in a fabulous red Lewis Leathers suit.

Kim said, "The Distinguished Gentleman’s Ride is, without a doubt, my favourite motorcycling event of the year. It combines a huge passion for both vintage style and motorcycles. And, it does so all while supporting vital causes and bringing together a warm, likeminded community of bikers. Over the years, the ride has raised millions for men’s mental health and prostate cancer charities—an effort that makes every mile meaningful.
This year, I had the honour of leading the Plymouth ride. We couldn’t have asked for better weather - the sun shone down on us throughout. The enthusiasm and commitment of every one of the 70 participants did not go unnoticed, with an eclectic mix of bikes and equally creative outfits on display. I’m truly grateful to Steve and the entire Terra Nova team for the opportunity to be involved. It was an unforgettable experience, and I’m proud to have played a part in such an important and growing movement. I’m already looking forward to next year!"
Also joining the ride was actor and musician Rob Fowler (@realrobfowler) currently starring as Falco in the hit musical 'Bat out of Hell' that just happened to be in Plymouth at the same time as the ride.
